Once upon a time, in the far north of Western Australia, there was a young teacher named Melinda. She loved teaching and everything about it, and she was excited to share her passion and enthusiasm with her students.

Yet, all was not quite as it seemed.

Mel couldn't understand why some of her students couldn't read, no matter how hard they tried.

This wasn't the fairytale of Mel's dreams where she was able to help every child learn to read.

To change that, Mel learned everything she could about teaching reading. She trained in the best high-quality, evidence-based literacy programs and worked extensively with children in a classroom, small group, and one-on-one context.
